What Happens When You DON'T Let the Nay-Sayers Win...
Nay-Sayers: noun. 1. a person who habitually expresses negative or pessimistic views
Have you ever had a nay-sayer in your path to success? I have. So many times in my life I have had nay-sayers at every corner. Yes, I had more people to encourage me, but for some reason what the nay-sayers would say stayed in my head the longest. They would say...Amber you can't do this...You are not smart enough to do that...You will never be a great doctor....or You will never be a doctor at all. Yes, the nay-sayers kept coming for me...around every corner they would be there. According to my mom, "At every level, there is a new devil." She definitely was right about that.
Even though I would expect nay-sayers, I always am surprised when I give them control and internalize the message that was given to me. Honestly, it has taken me years to get out of my mind that I wouldn't be a good resident doctor. I am being so real with this, y'all. Someone during my 4th year of medical school told me that. But what happened in reality was the exact opposite. I BEASTED my first year of residency and am closing my last year of residency as a VERY successful resident (i.e. elected leader for a national organization, current MBA student, in the process of starting my own business, etc.).
Let's be clear...this is not to brag. I am beginning to live in my God-given purpose, and hope you can do the same. I hope today the you step out on your purpose. Leave the nay-sayers in the dust. Just do your thing, boo...It looks much better on you!
